چکیده
Psychophysical representations built by Gabor visual chan-nels described in complex analytic form are shown to be related to thewavelet transform of visual stimuli under empirically plausible bandwidthconstraints. Analysis of the psychophysical wavelet representations ofone-dimensional stimuli eliciting some visual contrast illusions (Machbands and the Craik-Cornsweet-O’Brien illusion) reveals that qualitativeaspects of the selective appearance of these illusions can be explained asa natural consequence of the functional characteristics of early visualprocessing.

Stability and statistical properties of second-order bidirectional associative memory
In this paper, a bidirectional associative memory (BAM) model with second-order connections, namely second-order bidirectional associative memory (SOBAM), is first reviewed. The stability and statistical properties of the SOBAM are then examined. We use an example to illustrate that the stability of the SOBAM is not guaranteed. For this result, we cannot use the conventional energy approach to ...

The Willshaw model is asymptotically the most efficient neural associative memory (NAM), but its finite version is hampered by high retrieval errors. Iterative retrieval has been proposed in a large number of different models to improve performance in auto-association tasks. In this paper, bidirectional retrieval for the hetero-associative memory task is considered: we define information effici...
متن کاملDynamics of Bidirectional Associative Memory Networks with Processing Delays
A mathematical model describing the dynamical interactions of the bidirectional associative memory networks, incorporating among other things processing time delays, has been proposed in this paper. The existence and stability characteristics of the equilibrium patterns have been discussed. Results on local asymptotic stability of the equilibrium patterns have been presented. Three sets of easi...
متن کاملA comprehensive survey on two associative memory models
This paper surveys two advanced associative memory models[8][5]. The first model was derived from the projection on a closed convex set spanned by patterns. The second model was derived from training weights to improve the error tolerance of the Hopfield network. Both models are designed to resolve the insufficiencies of the Hopfield network. These insufficiencies are loading capacity, limit cy...
متن کاملA statistical investigation of bidirectional associative memories (BAM)
We inve, tigate by ~tati, tical mechanical methods a uocha~tic analogue of the bidirectional a;sociative memone~ introduced by B. Kosko. We denve its ;torage capacity a~ a function of the total number of synapses and of the asymmetry of the network.
